I’d like to that all those who entered Kent Park, looks like the single day in march that would be unridable fell on the wrong day.

Those who wish to use there entry fee as a donation to the Children’s Center let me know at skinnyboy@wrecks.org It’s a dissapointment this didn’t work out, both for the riders and the charity.
Otherwise checks will be torn and I’ll start over looking for another event to hold this year.

Thanks,

Michael

Kent Park Canceled

Ok,
It looks like Kent Park is off for this year. The park is not plowed, sanded or salted so what is down will be there in the morning. It’s too slick to have a safe event. I waited longer then I might have out of reluctance to cancel this large of an event, it’s a shame after all the nice weekends we’ve had leading up to it.

I’d like to thank Scheels again for sponsoring our club, they paid for most of the fee’s a club incurs to put on an event like this. That’s a very big deal for such a small club like ours. They also provided prizes for category winners, hopefully these will be used at another race soon. I’m trying to plan out other possible events this season.
Perkins also baked extra pies that were going to our event, they were very friendly and I hope people will stop in and enjoy a meal at a bike friendly establishment.

No checks have been cashed, if you would like to donate your entry fee to the Children’s Center, please let me know. Otherwise checks will be destroyed. I’ll do my best to hold another event soon.

Thanks to all who registered, it’s an extra long wait to ride Kent Park 2010.

Howdy,
It’s true at this point the race is not canceled, but it’s getting more and more likely it will be unsafe to ride the course. At that point the race will be off. I don’t know what the park is like, but if there is any ice it would be unsafe to race. It’s stopped snowing for the moment, but the race is a long way away.

On a personal note, I’m finding it hard to cancel the race early, even though it might seem inevitable at this point. While I’ve been involved in hundreds of events over the last few years, I’ve put a bit more of myself into this year’s Kent Park, I hate to see the calendar take another hit on Iowa races.

I’ll be watching the weather, conferring with those whom one confers with on such matters and try to keep you informed. If you are traveling a long way, you should consider the race very compromised at this point. At best, what is down now does not freeze and it’s just a wet mess of a race, at worst it is unsafe and canceled.
There will be no reschedule on the Kent Park course if it’s off.

Thanks,
Michael

Kent Park and Snow?

Tomorrows race is still on, there is no way to reschedule Kent Park so if it’s canceled there is no make up. If there is any ice on the course it will be canceled per park rules. We can only hope right now that most of this misses us, it’s breaking up as it nears, with a little luck all will be clear to go.

Unless it’s painfully obvious when we wake up in the morning, I’ll be at the park to see the course at 7:00 am, unfortunately, I might not know if the race is canceled until then.

Stay tuned and hope for the best.

Thanks to our Sponsors

I’d like to take a moment to thank some of our sponsors that make our event and local races possible.

Scheels – They couldn’t be better, they fund the license and fees it takes to put on a club and event. We are a small club but it costs just as much to get all the permits as it does for large clubs. Scheels has supported us for many years bringing local riders hundreds of races.

Perkins – Back on board this year there will be plenty of Perkins pies, there are many riders who take their pies very serious. Keeping the spirit and friendly atmosphere of a Two Bee race is in large part the pie you might go home with.

Dale Lee Distributing – It might seem odd to give pies to winners, it seems more odd to send a rider off with a 12 pack under his arm. Dale Lee supplies a lot of beer for our events, keeping many rider happy and refreshed after a good race.

Polar Bottle – After talking a bit with Polar Bottle about some of their products, they offered to send bottles for race prizes, I really love these bottles and I’m happy to have them as a sponsor.
