This Thursday will be the End of the Circle 25k TT by Tiffin. Registration will begin at 4:30 and first rider is off at 5:00. Take the Tiffin exit off I80 and go south and park along shoulder of the industrial park. Cost is $3 to cover ibra and insurance.
I would like to say a few words about the significance of this insignificant event. Among the reasons for racers to come is John Meehan will be back in town so stop by and say Hi or find out the latest on the Jingle Cross. Another reason is for a few of you is the helmets are in from the Le Bon Doc Tour. Other than that all I have is the cost is only $3 and I’m using this event to get rid of the last of the beer.
The storyline on this race starts about a decade ago on a fall ride. I had the idea to put on some bike races to raise money for a great local charity. My hope was to do events that were a little shorter and more welcoming to riders of all levels of ability. I realize that I don’t have the personality for the welcoming part and over the years have offended people. I can make no excuses, other than promoting and participating may be better left for separate days for those with small minds. I can only apologize. Getting back to the subject, since that ride, the Two Bee Club has put on hundreds of little races covering thousands of miles over many years. It has also raised a sizable amount of money for Miracles In Motion.
As we approach the last 25k of the Two Bee club, I would like to thank everyone who came out to ride. I would also like to thank everyone who lent a hand at the events. I would like to thank Scheels and Dale Lee Distributing for their years of support along with all of our other sponsors. Special thanks needs to be given to Michael Edwards because he has done more than anyone to make this club exist. From a personal point, I would like to thank Bike Tech, Midwest Cannondale and individuals like Paul Deninger, Scott Wall and other elite riders who gave us a place in local racing by attending when grassroots racing was not part of the local schedule. I would also like to thank my wife, Bridget who donated countless hours officiating, baking, organizing, etc.
I will no longer be doing what I have for some time, I will probably try to ride along with another team to continue to put on Kent Park. Other than that, my circle in bike racing is complete.
This then is not so much a race as a mile mark of when Two Bee Racing went quietly into the night.
Thanks,
Conn Day
