International Tour?

Howdy,
With the Tour of Williamsburg coming up, I thought it only right to share with you how big this event has become over the last few years. The following is a letter I received from the Haitian Cycling Federation, they were very adamant about an answer, e-mailing twice before I finally responded. The invitation was presented, with full disclosure of the scale of our event. There zeal to grow up cycling in
Haiti seems to have greatly diminished however, after the formal invitation was presented. Working through the translation was complicated and I never received a list of riders. I can only assume the invitation was declined.
I tell you this so you will be ready for international competition should that bus of Haitian cyclist arrive this Saturday in

Williamsburg, though no one would be surprised as I to see them show up. Perhaps the only thing more surprising would be the bus of Haitians arriving in Williams Burg,Ohio only to miss the Tour all together.

The Tour of Williamsburg will be this Labor Day weekend and consists of three days of racing. After three weeks of State Championships, you may enjoy the low key nature of this event. It has always been my favorite for the year. The drawing for the power tap SL for the Race Across the Summer series as well as the Bontrager racing wheel set will be on Monday at the conclusion of the tour.
You are welcome to race individual stages or all three. Cost is $13 per race.

Saturday is a 25k TT. It wouldn’t be completely truthful to say TT geeks have no advantage over this course, but the extreme hills will take much of this advantage away. This keeps the roadies well within reach over the next three stages.

Sunday is Brick Crit Joust. Basically just turn left and pedal. The bricks are very smooth and the straight a ways very short. A great course for the spectators.

Monday is a about a 20 mile RR over rolling hills and a 5 mile fairly flat TT back to town. You must race the TT on the same bike you rode for the RR (no aero bars).

As always the individual races will be run for beer and baked goods for prizes. Special awards for tour category winners.

Thanks again to all who have supported our race series in 2008!
