Due to a road that is no longer passable, we will be changing the Thanks Jason Road Race to the Black Diamond road. This will be an out and back race with a turn around. You can check out the new flyer in our events section.
Series points have been completed and uploaded to the results section, for those of you looking to win big in the raffle for wheels or a helmet!
In current Two Bee news and gossip, Gary McNabb’s string of bad luck continued Sunday by waking up to two flat tires on his road bike. I’ll keep fans posted with ups and downs until Gary decides to start posting himself
Well it’s here again, the IC Road Race and the Old Capital Crit. I just got back from the road race, never a calm wind in that race. My race went pretty uneventfull, and that was as much as I could expect. It’s been a harsh spring and an unprecedented four Two Bee events have been canceled. I race to train, I do not train to race. That being said the biggest ride for me this year went ok, I sprinted early and gave the remains of the lead group a nice enough lead out finishing up somewhere in the end. Going off I saw Carson latch on, I think I gave him a decent jump. My race was complete and I felt ok, good start to the rest of the Two Bee season.
The real story of the Two Bee team has to be our very own Gary McNabb. As long as he if feeling good, it’s guaranteed something will happen. Crashes in front of him, chains breaking or skipping off, 3 of his last 5 races have ended in mishaps seemingly from out of nowhere. He narrowly averted faulty rim strip this week end only to be taken down behind a crashed rider. The crash happened right next to me, and I’m afraid poor Jimmy may have had to run over a stray limb in the attempt to stay upright. Let us hope that some day soon Gary’s luck may change and the draft may open for him to cross the finish unhampered by ill wind.
Maybe Tomorrow?

Sorry about the late notice, it has been a tough spring.
Our next scheduled race is for Thursday night on the Hilly TT course.
Thanks,
Conn Day

TT News:
As the years pass putting on races, I find myself getting more and more grumpy especially at time trials. With the summers TT series starting tomorrow, I think I will be a jerk once and just have it done with.
We put on small races on roads open to traffic. As you know a lot of this traffic doesn’t think we have a right to be there. I have no desire to be in the middle of who has what rights, my opinions are not the point here.
We can not have people warming up two and three abreast across the road. If a car comes up from behind, please go single file so it at least looks like you see their point of view. From a race promoters point of view, if we can anger as few as possible during the warm up the better it may be for the racers down the road. Please do not race down the center of the road. When racing please stay to the side unless to pass another racer that way the drivers are not pre- pissed by the time they get to the other riders. What’s more we don’t have Jethro in a four wheel drive who just loses it and starts passing blind with the return riders being the victim of two sides claming their rights. I see this happen every year and it starts to build up by the end.
So starting now here is the rule. It is not a USCF rule it is a Two Bee racing rule. If you refuse to let cars by during warm up/cool down, standing at the start or ride farther than a bike length from the edge (except to pass) during the race; you will get $10 of your $13 back and will be called a DNF. I know this all sounds like the rantings of someone who should not be doing what I do. The fact is, almost no one wants people to feel welcome racing more than I do. The other fact is no one takes safety more seriously either. I once put on a race where a man was seriously hurt. His life changed in many ways, some forever. I can’t think of anyway it got better. So with all the good things I will take from putting on races this is also mine to keep.
If we can all cooperate, the racing will go on and I can go back to enjoying it instead of worrying. If not the risk makes it impossible to justify continuing. Thank you for your patience in listening to my rants.
On a positive note, the end of the year prize will be another Power Tap SL wheel with a retail value of about $1400. This is made possible by a good deal by Scheels and generous contributions from Midwest Physical Therapy of Coralville and Sugar Bottom Bikes of North Liberty. You need to race in half (11) of the TT’s to be eligible for the drawing.
If anyone has any questions or concerns please contact me privately via email or by phone.
Thank you,
Conn Day
