MacBride TT Saturday, slight course change

20k TT this Saturday Sept. 29 will be slightly altered due to a course change because of a running race at the lake. This race promises to be more glycogen and O2 demanding per mile than any other Bee event.
No need to bring your aero equipment.

Registration will be at 7:15 and first off at 8:00. Cost is $13. Usual beer, pie and baked goods for prizes.

Contact Conn Day with questions 319-848-9066 or 319-573-1011.

Tubie Tutie Race, sounds easy enough.

The Tubie Tutie 50k TT/micro mass start race will be Saturday Sept. 22 at 8:00. Registration will be at 7:15. Take Hwy 1 to CR Road F52 (Black Diamond Rd) and go to the first right. Park along the shoulder. Cost is $13.
For some it will be a fairly flat out and back 31 mile TT nuff said. We are also offering the option of teaming up with another person on standard bikes no disc wheels no aero bars. This will be a great chance to practice that 2 man breakaway you will be envisioning in the next couple of months as you ride in the basement. Use your other rider wisely as the pack will be bearing down on you. The pack in this case are the time trialists with their aero advantage. All riders will be scored individually and separated by category only.

A few notes about Saturday’s race out at Lake Macbride. It is a 20k climb trial so it is not necessary to have or bring out your aero equipment. It is 3 laps in the park. As the name states, this is a fall race and there will be leaves, nuts, sticks, etc. on the course so make sure your brakes are in good working order. This may also be a good opportunity for the CX riders to come out and seer their lungs for the first time. It is suppose to be quite cold but we will still be sending our first rider off at 8:00.
The race proceeds will be donated to the Price VandeLune Memorial Fund.

Thank you to everyone who showed for yesterday’s race. It was a
beautiful morning and a fantastic setting at Lake MacBride.

The day started with a ~2 mile time trial up, down, and around the
twisting and winding roads of the park. Chad Bishop (Harpers) set the
fastest time early on with a 5:14. This time would survive the next
six riders, with Michael Edwards (Two Bee Racing) coming in closest 2
seconds back. Norbert Koenigsfeld (BikeTech Racing) put his stamp on
the race, however, coming through next with a new best of 4:59 – a
time would remain until Sean Walker (Atlas Core) came in with a
blistering time of 4:56.

In the circuit race, the group of 18 riders would play it cool for the
first half of the race. With 5 laps to go however, things started to
break apart, with a lead group of 4 including Sean, Chad, Michael, and
Norbert established a small gap. The pace would prove to be too quick
for Norbert, and with 4 laps to go we were down to 3 leaders followed
by a chase 8 riders led by Todd Cheney (Unattached). The leaders
worked well together, extending their lead, until 2 laps to go when
Sean attacked from this group and never looked back. The race quickly
became a battle for second, with a chase group of 5 now hot on the
heals of Micheal and Chad. Coming up the hill for the final time,
Michael was able to stay ahead of the hard charging pack to take
second, while Scott Fett (Two Bee Racing) and Todd Black (Atlas Core)
sprinted to take third and fourth.

This Saturday at Lake Macbride we will hold the drawings for the two series that have been completed. Each series drawing will be for Power Tap SL with wheel $1200 retail value made possible by Jason Weldon of Scheels.
Anyone who raced 10 Thursday night TT’s will be eligible. Anyone who raced 11 Sat. races which includes the Stage races will be eligible for this drawing.

Lake Macbride starts the fall series where a total of 7 races will qualify you for the final PT drawing. If you see Jason Weldon, thank him for all his work this year and the past as we will be losing him at the end of the year to Scheels of Reno. We wish him the best and he will be missed both as a club member and friend.

Thanks,
Conn Day

Overall Tour Results

I’d like to thank everyone who made this year’s stage race possible. I
always have fun scoring and keeping track of who is where, how many
seconds/minutes up/down riders are, etc. It’s not often that riders
from Iowa get to participate in a stage race, and it’s a real treat
for me to be a part of.

Here are the overall results…
