Kent Park Video
Just wanted to give a huge thanks to everyone who made this morning’s race a success – especially Conn, his “crew”, and of course the park rangers who let us use their facilities. It was great to be back in the action of officiating and I had a lot of fun.
For anyone interested, I uploaded the video of the finish to YouTube.
We filmed the finish to help confirm general rider identifications.
Being a personal video camera it obviously isn’t going to be accurate enough to read numbers at slow motion, but it did help in confirming the accidental mix-up this morning with Cody, Doug, and Pete.
I’ll warn you that the video is nearly 10 minutes if you want to watch the whole thing (we just let it run until almost everyone had crossed the line).
Enjoy!

Great day for a race! Ole!
After the race, with Taco Johns on the way home it seems a shame not to stop and grab some softshells. I’d like to thank Mark for working out all the rider places, keeping track of lapped riders and finish order is no easy task. Thanks to Conn for working with the park to put on this event, and all the volunteers that helped get everyone to the starting line with seemingly little fuss. Keeping things orderly and on time really helps our relation to the park staff, they trust us to put on this event, and you know, I think it’s working really well.
If you enjoyed your Kent Park Classic event, don’t forget, we put on around 50 races throughout the year. Kent Park might be our largest event, but we treat every race as an opportunity to introduce new riders to the sport. Many of my favorite races have had less the 20-30 riders, it’s about having fun, please don’t make Kent Park your only Bee event.
Race in the morning
Everyone ready for the big race tomorrow? Well, I’m off to El Dorodo to have a huge chimichanga, chips and beans and sour cream oh my. Please be considerate to the park officials you may meet, it’s through there kindness that this race is even possible. Good luck one and all.
Kent Park Closed
Kent Park registration is officially closed as we have exceeded our 100 rider limit by quite a bit.
The park will not open until 7:00 am and there will be parking marshals instructing you where to park. If for some reason you may need to leave before the race is over, please let one of the parking people know and you will have to park in a different lot. Once the race starts cars will not be allowed to leave.
You will need to come over to the picnic shelter to pick up your race number and take care of any license, category or payment issues.
Race start is 8:30 am.
Distance is 6 laps of 4 miles each.
Please respect park rangers and park property as we would like to continue to hold this event and they have been very gracious to us in the past. If you get a second you may even offer them a quick Thank You for hosting the event.
The park will be closed to motor traffic during the event but there may be walkers, dogs etc out on the course.
Anyone wishing to get an upper body workout the day before the race, there will be a sweeping party at 10:00 Saturday! Conn could use some help here.
Also any Bees who may be able to provide some parking help on Sunday before the race please let us know by email or phone 848-9066.
Thank you for all the interest and support of this great Spring Classic!

Kent Park count:81
Well, 81 so far are preregistered as of today, keep them coming in. I see you guys out there training in this weather, I for one think training is for winners and I’d just as soon let them do it. Lets hope Kent Park is half as nice as it was today, are you ready?
Once again, feel free to check out the registered rider list and see if everything is alright, I’ll get the points up for Prairie soon.
And the results are in..
The first RR of the Two Bee season saw 37 riders come out for the challenge. Ice on the course race morning sent organizers into a ice chopping frenzy. Thanks to Chris Reed and Mr. Reed, Ed Lagrange, and anyone else who lent a hand preparing the course! The volunteers who stood on the corners and helped clean up are also deserving of huge thanks! (Cindy, Ruth, Rob, Casey and Lauren)
Next race is March 17. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
This race is a great race to be a spectator at and there were several cheering the riders on throughout the course. This is a good one to bring the family out to watch.
