This Saturday may or may not be the first road race of the Bee season. For the next 3 saturdays we are scheduled to do the Prairie Rude Days RR. The chances that we will get them all in are slim. We can flex the course or length to suit the conditions. However, we will cancel for ice or slick conditions. Watch for updates toward the end of the week. If there is any question race morning, call 319-573-1011.

Distance: 10 laps or 22 miles
Time: Registration- 9:00 am
  Race start- 10:00 am
Cost: $13
Prizes: beer, pies and baked goods
Directions: Take the #13 exit off of I380, go west to the stoplight, go north to the next stoplight (76th ave) then go east to the Prairie campus Registration will be on the right in the parking area.

Attn. Bees: we could use some corner marshalls and sweepers, contact Conn if able to help.

Kent Park Registration

Comments Off

If you are checking to see if I have recieved your Kent Park registration, check to see that there is no question mark by your name. You may be asked about it at the race, if you have no license or category for instance. Just be prepared with the information on race day or fill out a one day license form and all will be well. Let me know if I get any thing wrong, like upgrading you to a cat 1 or putting you on our team by mistake:)

I’ve got all the riders updated that I have so far. In case you are a bit lost, the link is over to the side in the pages section.

Welcome to the new site

Howdy, I’m currently working on getting the Kent Park section up to date, with the power going out and internet being so spotty, not sure I’ll get it all up today. Feel free to leave comments where ever you like, let me know if there are glaring errors anywhere:)

2008 Kent Park Classic

March 30th

List of pre-registered riders

If you notice a yellow box next to your name it means I’m missing some information, you will be asked for it on race day or send me an email.

The Kent Park Classic is a 6 lap circuit race. It’s approximately 4 miles per lap for 24 miles total. Registration starts at 7:30 am and race starts at 8:30 am. All riders start together, and end on the same lap. Expect to be riding with 99 other riders, not all fast, not all slow, you are sure to find groups going your speed on the course. Lots of hills break this race wide open, it was my first race and is still one of my favorites.
The atmosphere is friendly but not without competition, prizes are beer and baked goods, and entry will count towards the road series raffle.

Registration for 2008 is now Closed: Registration for Kent park is open to all, you can find a copy of the 2008 rider entry form here. Please add your category in the races/activities entered! If you need a one day license you need to fill that out on race day, just include a note and the $13 fee. One day license will cost an additional $10 on day of race. Send it to me by mail, or give it to me by hand at any of the upcoming races. Here is my address.

Send rider form and entry of $13, checks made out to Two Bee Racing to:

2008 Kent Park Classic

A huge thanks to everyone who came out this morning and raced Kent Park. It was exciting to watch and I hope everyone had a great time.

With it being the first bigger size road event of the year, there were a few wrinkles to encounter, but hopefully nothing that took away from the chance to have fun, reconnect with racers I hadn’t seen since Jingle Cross, and do it all for a great cause.

I can’t wait to do it all again next weekend in Altoona! :)

Upcoming Bee Season

Comments Off

With the racing season creeping up on us, I guess it is as good as time as any to make a few Bee announcements. As last year we will have a summer series this year on Saturdays, a TT series this year on Thursdays and a Fall series that includes half of the events being on pavement (you can get in the drawings without having to ride the gravel). Jason Weldon has once again used his Scheels connections to make great end of the series drawings possible. All three series will give away a power tap SL built into a Mavic wheel. You will need to race half of any one series to be part of the series drawing. I would like to take this chance to thank Caseys Convenience Stores for making this possible.Once again the Bees will be heading up the multiple club Le Bon Doc Tour. This event came off great last year with many pediatric cancer patients getting to go to a Build A Bear party to make a little friend to share their long road ahead. Although DICE and HBA have yet to make final commitments this looks like it will be a six day stage race. The weekday stages will be 15 miles or less making them doable for the working athlete. I figure after 3 or 4 days 15 miles will be enough for most of us. I intend to keep working on this up to the time of the race to make it as enjoyable as possible. Any clubs interested in becoming part of it, can as they did last year, commit for the cost of a helmet to be raffled at the end. You will not need to race all stages but the more points, the better your chances and for many of us the better understanding we will have of the guys that do this kind of stuff.Last but most urgent, Kent Park will once again be a pre register event only. Michael Edwards will once again be handling registration.Registration is now open and you may send your standard release form and a check for $13 made out to Two Bee Racing. Michael Edwards

Caseys Convenience Store: A big thanks goes out to Casey’s General Stores, they just jumped up to become our major sponsor of the year, really fantastic. I can’t tell you how much this means to Two Bee Racing and Conn most of all. As a musician touring around smaller towns, I have a huge appreciation of Casey’s, many times it was the only place in town open after 5:00, and they had everything I needed. I had some great pizza in southern Iowa, saved my night while I was playing in a VFW bar, same night I got my blues name “Skinnyboy” Edwards, but that’s a whole other story. Big thanks to Casey’s for everything they do.

Perkins Restaurant/Bakery: These masters of indulgence donate a couple of these Cat 1 pastries to each event. It is no secret that when the going gets tough outside and the real racers are separated from the guys just playing around, you can likely as not find us Two Bee guys inside at Perkins.

Scheels: This is the home of the Bees. The team started here and every season still starts around tall Brad Alderson’s generous support and ends around Jason Weldon’s hard work at coming up with a series raffle award. Enough can’t be said about the store or its people.

Dale Lee Distributing/Budweiser: These guys have been on from the start. Every year they give monetary support to Miracles In Motion as well as a couple cases of beer to each event. They make our banner and are just plain nice people to work with. Dale Lee people make putting on this many races bearable. Budweiser is everything you could hope for in a sponsor. Thanks!

Iowa City Cycling Club: In what has to be a first in the competitive world of cycling, the ICCC has shown it’s willingness to support the sport in all ways possible by making a monetary donation to our cause thus backing our series. And to think we were thrilled just to have them show up at our events, crush us into the dust and show us how it should be done. They not only make our series real racing, the make it happen. Talent with class!

Midwest Physical Theraphy: They have joined our team of riders and sponirship, so if you some help, do not hesitate to call them after a long ride or race.

The Home Repair Team: As once agian been added to our sponsorship list, so if you need any kind of home repair, please give these guys a call. The are located near Swisher for fast service.

Bobcat of Ceder Rapids: I don’t know about you, but I enjoy driving Bobcats. Never tried it? Go buy one then, it will put a smile on your face in no time.

Two Bee Jersey

Team Jersey
When we have enough people interested in jerseys, we place an order through Hincapie SportsWear. Pricing runs around $70, the more orders the cheaper the jersey. Now that our club has dwindled a bit in numbers, it’s unlikely we will have an order soon. If you are interested in owning one of these classics, please let me know. When we have enough I’ll put in an order.
